On Wednesday, March 2, 2011 the FBI in cooperation with the Internal Revenue Service, the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration and the state Justice Department’s Bureau of Gambling Control were joined by men and women of state and local police and raided two Bay Area casinos. What was expected was illegal gambling rings and money laundering associated with organized crime.
One establishment was Artichoke Joes at 659 Huntington Ave. in San Bruno and the other was on the other side of the bay in Emeryville. The Oaks Card Club at 4097 San Pablo Ave has been at this location since before Emeryville’s incorporation in 1896.
The casinos will remain closed while officials seize documents and search the premises’.
This story does not show a map of the locations. They are on the other side of the bay from each other and I feel that it would be beneficial for a reader to have a visual idea of where in the bay these two areas are located. I feel that readers from other parts of the bay may not be familiar with the geographic location of Emeryville or San Bruno. They may know Oakland and San Francisco, but these two smaller locations are not widely known unless you know the area well or are from either location.
