Now that Santa Cruz native Annabel Anderson lives in San Francisco, she has decided to take up biking. On Wednesday, I met up with her at Golden Gate Park where she was on her way to Haight St. for work. She told me about her new hobby and how she thinks it’s easier to bike around the city rather than relying on public transportation. Anderson is looking forward to “Bike to Work” day on May 12; there will be free coffee, snacks and fun gear.
Golden Gate Park is a great place to find bikers in San Francisco, especially on “Healthy Saturdays.” On “Healthy Saturdays,” Golden Gate Park is a car-free zone April thru September on JFK Drive between Tea Garden Dr. (near 8th Ave.) and Transverse Dr. Biking is a great way to stay fit, save money on gas and public transportation, and promote eco-friendly living.
