Transforming fashion into urban art

Jeramie Tolentino is an urban artist from San Francisco. He recently participated in the Lucky Bastard Tour, displaying art in Seattle and San Francisco. This video follows Jeramie in the process of making art pieces for the San Francisco show at Space Gallery on April 30.

Jeramie used his friend Carly Mikkelsen’s garment designs as inspiration for the art creations. He drew the designs on models and removed the body from from each image to create floating garments.

Jeramie’s next show will be in Chicago in the beginning of August around the same time as Lollapalooza music festival. Appropriately, the theme for the show will focus on female vocalists such as Bjork and Lykke Li. He will draw portraits of six or seven musicians accompanied by a meaningful quote from one of their songs.
