There are three opportunities for you to earn extra credit in this class. Each extra credit assignment is worth 10 points.
1. Join in on a #wjchat Twitter chat – Due X at 5 p.m. No late work will be accepted.
WJCHAT takes place every Wednesday night from 5-7 p.m. PST. Weekly previews of #wjchat topics are posted here. Participate in the conversation then use Storify to produce a short story about the topic. Include at least three Tweets of your own in the Storify story. (Hint: Use Tweetchat to follow the conversation in real-time.)

2. Listen to Morning Edition, Fresh Air , Radio Lab OR This American Life for five days. Keep a journal documenting the kinds of stories you hear on the program and jot some notes down about your favorite stories – what do you like/dislike about radio as a medium. Due X at 5 p.m. No late work will be accepted.
At the end of the five days, write 250-350 word essay reflecting on your audio experience and post it to San Fran Beat along with at least three links (hint, link to the stories that you discuss). Answer the following questions in your essay: Do you think you will continue listening to the program, why or why not? What role do you think audio stories play in our society? What are the strengths and weaknesses of audio storytelling?
Print and hand-in your journal along with a print out of your post.
3. Create a Storify story based on your beat. Due X BEFORE class starts.
Curate Tweets, Facebook posts, photos, video, blog posts and news articles about a subject related to your San Fran Beat “beat.” (*Hint: look back at some of the articles you Tweeted about during the semester.) Follow my 5 rules for journalists using Storify
